About The Role
As a result of our continued growth across our Real Estate function, we are looking to add a Legal Assistant to our Conveyancing Team, based in our Hereford office.
This team deals with mostly local sales, purchases and transfers on behalf of clients. The team does not deal with volume panel conveyancing and instead receives recommendations from existing clients and other departments within the firm.
Joining our residential conveyancing team gives you access to a career pathway as a Licensed Conveyancer via the CLL qualification. Individuals can enrol on the level 4 CLC apprenticeship and if successful progress onto the level 6 CLC apprenticeship whilst in a fee earning conveyancing role. Accessing these qualifications requires a minimum of 12 months service and a career development plan with a sponsoring Partner.
Reporting to a Conveyancer, you will provide efficient legal administration to colleagues within the team.
Duties of a Legal Assistant:
* Prepare and issue sale contracts.
* Assist with conveyancing completions including the financial documents.
* Conduct searches including Local Authority, Land Registry, Lawyer search, Insolvency, Compliance regulation.
* Field enquiries as appropriate, communicating directly with clients and agents.
* Prepare new matter quotes as outlined by the fee earner.
* File opening, closing and updating using the firm's case management system (SOS).
* Lexel compliance and reviews.
* Deal with post completion formalities and registration at the Land Registry.
* Collate client AML documentation for review by the fee earner.
* Prepare exchange and completion letters.
About You
About you:
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate excellent attention to detail in all aspects of their work. Being a team player with strong communication skills you will need to handle multiple tasks and deliver on tight deadlines. Therefore being a highly organised individual who is comfortable working in an ever changing environment is a must.
Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams, Zoom, etc. is required for this position as well as being competent in communicating concisely and accurately.
