Summary:
The Operator will be responsible for operating and monitoring the assets associated with the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) on multiple sites in Cornwall and one site in Wiltshire UK, the primary base will be Cornwall. You will also be expected to travel to sites around Cornwall and Salisbury; travel to other sites across the UK may be required on an as-needed basis. All travel and overnight expenses will be paid for by the company in line with the expenses policy.
The WWTPs are operated 7 days a week:
Rock site is operated 8 hours per day Mon-Fri and 4 hours a day Sat-Sun.
St Austell and Salisbury sites are operated 4 hours per day 7 days a week.
Wadebridge site is operated 8 hours per day 7 days a week.
The Operator’s main working hours will be 8am-4pm Monday to Friday; however, the need to cover holiday & sickness on weekends will be expected along with overtime or rest days in the week given. Working Bank Holidays will also be a requirement with days given back.
The on-site WWTPs receive mixed effluent from the customer and require treatment to a high standard. The WWTP processes therefore require regular monitoring for deviations from the operational plan.
The Operator will be expected to implement monitoring control activities and operational changes. You would also prepare the assets for basic planned maintenance tasks as required. The Operator will also be expected to maintain analytical data in a computer-based system to record plant performance.
In addition, the Operator is expected to carry out minor preventative maintenance activities using a Computerised Maintenance Management System on equipment, such as cleaning of process instruments and calibration of equipment. You are also expected to assist with housekeeping duties and ensure the process assets are in as good condition as possible.
The role also requires that the assets are operated at optimum performance at all times; the operator will form part of the team framework to assist in this task. The role requirements include the safe & seamless operation of the WWTP in accordance with regulatory consent and without interruption to the customer’s production activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Work within the client and NSI HSE Systems.
* Visible ownership of HSE issues at all levels both in the client organisation and within NSI.
* Promptly raise any issues which could affect both the client and NSI.
* Establish and maintain professional relationships with the client and sub-contractors.
* Innovate in the workplace to bring improvement and opportunity.
* Identify faults, evaluate rectification measures, and make initial recommendations to carry out basic repairs.
* Gather all systems information and complete plant logs to understand the function and operation of the WWTP on site.
* Carry out daily laboratory water analysis and promptly report any deviations to Site Management and Technical Team.
* Utilise plant information to identify changes in system performance and/or potential operational problems, evaluating and making initial recommendations to return the plant to its optimum operating condition.
* Develop and maintain good housekeeping practices.
* Work unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
* Develop good team working behaviours with the client and other NSI staff.
* Undergo training as required and identify training needs.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Essential):
* Operational experience and knowledge of wastewater treatment plants.
* Maintenance knowledge of wastewater treatment plants.
* Ability and knowledge to complete repairs and maintenance.
* A working knowledge of running electro-mechanical plants.
* Computer literate.
* Knowledge of Water and Wastewater treatment plants.
* NVQ Level 2.
Required Skills/Qualifications (Desirable):
* Ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant through previous experience.
* Experience of working directly with sub-contractors.
* Electrical qualifications and experience with pumps, panels, etc.
* Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system.
* Training in Environmental Health and Safety.
* HSE Qualifications.

* The salary is between £24,000 & £30,000 per year, depending on your professional experience.
