Our stunning new home Wilmslow Manor Care Centre is a purpose-built 63 bed care facility situated in the popular town of Wilmslow, Cheshire, 11 miles south of Manchester city centre. The home, which opened in September ‘22, will provide the highest standards of safety, comfort, and care to residents with a variety of care needs. We offer residential, nursing, and dementia care and invest in the latest technology, along with a purposeful programme of daily activity and gentle exercise to enhance the experience, care, and wellbeing of our residents. All team members are hand-selected for their warmth and passion, receiving a full induction and ongoing training from our in-house trainers in conjunction with the New Care Academy. New Care has not used agency staff for over 18 months as we employ a permanent staff team to ensure continuity of care from staff that residents know and trust. Across New Care, all our staff are paid above the national living wage.
We are seeking to appoint a kind and motivated Assistant Chef to join our team. You will work with the Head Chef and Second Chef to ensure that a high quality of food service is provided, supporting residents' needs and contributing to their overall positive experience of living in the Home. We have a full-time 38-hour contract available with a competitive salary of £11.50 per hour paid for all staff regardless of their age! Shift times are 07:30-17:30 with alternate weekend working.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that menus are presented and displayed in a way that residents can understand and make daily choices on what they wish to eat.
2. Ensure that meals are provided in sufficient quantities, taking into account diets to meet medical, ethnic, and personal needs and preferences.
3. Ensure all food is nutritionally balanced, attractively presented for service in a timely manner, and in the correct sequence.
4. Understand, follow, and adhere to company HACCP, ensuring full compliance.
5. Ensure that the kitchen and serving areas are clean and hygienic, maintaining a high standard of infection control and adhering to the Food Standards Act 1999, ensuring cleaning rotas are followed and records kept.
6. Manage, allocate duties, and supervise the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef and Chef, ensuring a quality delivery of services.
7. Inspire and motivate the team to produce food to the expected high standards.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Experience of working during busy meal periods including breakfast and evening meal service.
2. Experience of working in a care home or similar.
3. Knowledge of specialised diets and service delivery.
4. Ability to contribute and develop the four-week menu.
5. Ability to complete records demonstrating adherence to legal requirements.
