Here at Ruby Energy, we continue to grow our people team and have a newly created position available for a Head of Learning and Development to join our team based at our offices in Thornton – Cleveleys.
This position will be accountable for the development, planning and successful delivery of an organisational programme of core, specialist and professional learning and development initiatives that meet operational requirements to ensure that all colleagues are suitably qualified, competent and skilled to undertake their roles.
Our new Head of Learning and Development will support colleague engagement and retention by leading and coordinating career development, succession planning, talent management, management and leadership development and professional development initiatives (amongst others).

Build effective, collaborative working relationships with relevant senior leadership representatives, People team and subject matter experts to understand and continually re-evaluate organisational learning and development needs to ensure they are aligned with business need and current regulatory and legislative requirements
Develop and oversee the delivery of an agreed learning and development strategy, in conjunction with the Group People Director and other internal stakeholders, which meets the short, medium and long-term aims of the organisation
Lead and coach the Learning and Development team to ensure it is high-performing and value adding through effective training, development, performance management and leadership of all members of the team
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the L&D function to ensure processes and practices are continually reviewed and lessons learned lead to change and best practice
Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in learning and development
Build and create robust methods for tracking, reporting, evaluating and analysing performance of the L&D function and the effectiveness of the programme it delivers
Lead the planned performance development review, succession planning and talent management cycle, helping to identify future leaders and high potential colleagues and working with relevant stakeholders to develop suitable development plans/programmes
Oversee the delivery of a planned programme of management and leadership development activity to ensure the business has effective, high-quality and stable leadership at all levels of the organisation.
Ensure the induction program aligns with the company’s culture, values, and strategic goals
Identify opportunities to utilise the Apprenticeship Levy for new hires and existing staff
Collaborate with training providers to set up apprenticeship programs that meet the needs of the organisation
Manage third-party relationships and contract negotiations with external stakeholders and providers to ensure effective use of resources
Pro-actively manage positive internal communications in conjunction with relevant stakeholders to ensure widespread awareness of L&D activity and performance at all levels across the business.
Relevant degree in Learning and development / Education
Significant demonstrable experience of leading a Learning and Development function
Demonstrable experience of successfully developing and implementing learning and development plans across an organisation
Working hours - Monday to Friday
