Job Title: Content Designer / Technical Writer Location: Remote - once or twice a month in the London office Salary/Rate: Up to £457 a day Inside IR35 Start Date: January Job Type: 6-month contract (scope to extend) Company Introduction We seek an experienced Content Designer / Technical Writer to join our client in the IT Services and IT Consulting industry. As a Content Designer, you will review existing content, identify pain points using data and user research, and design content for an accessible, effective slick user experience of our Enterprise API Management platform. This platform includes a developer portals that provide access to APIs, documentation, and other resources used by internal users across the organization and external users such as the company's customers and researchers. Required Skills/Experience User-Centric Approach Strong focus on the developer experience with easy-to-use documentation. Experience Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the software industry with a focus on APIs, internal tools, or developer tooling. Experience with Agile teams and best practices in developer portal content. Experience in large organisations or technical roles is a plus. Technical Skills Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and related technologies. Familiarity with API documentation tools like Swagger / OpenAPI, Postman and Insomnia. Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse, cross-functional teams. Proficiency with documentation tools such as Markdown, HTML, Confluence, and Git. Understanding of OAuth2 Authentication flows, including client credential and Authorization code flows. Strong research and testing skills with hands-on experience. Job Responsibilities/Objectives Documentation Creation Write, edit, and maintain comprehensive documentation for Elsevier's Enterprise API Platform and Developer Portals, including guides, tutorials, and in-platform instructions. Produce customer and internal resources like demonstrations, videos, training materials, and FAQs. Create user guides and how-to articles for developers to integrate with Elsevier's APIs. (including Authentication/Authorization using OAuth2 Authentication flows) Develop templates for API reference documentation. Maintain information architecture templates for easy data migration. Gather feedback to improve documentation quality and relevance. Ensure all documentation is technically accurate and adheres to Elsevier's standards. Content Development Develop engaging and accessible content that explains complex technical concepts and instructions clearly and concisely. Adapt existing Elsevier tone of voice, copy and style guidelines for this project's context for text.so it can be used by designers, product and technical teams, FAQ writers, and communications managers. Develop glossaries, taxonomies and other resources to support alignment across terminologies and drive clear, consistent, accessible content experiences. Contribute to the design and organization of user friendly and effective Developer Portals for a seamless user experience. Collaboration Work with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy. Collaborate with development and support leads on documentation repositories and data storage solutions. Advising and coaching stakeholders and team members on writing copy Provide writing and editing support to team members for consistency.
