Job Description
Glasgow City Council’s Summer Internship Programme will be available from Monday 9 June 2025 – Friday 29 August 2025, inclusive.
Applicants must be available for the full duration of the placement.
The intern will work 35 hours per week and rate of pay will be the Glasgow Living Wage. Interns will work for 12 weeks, during which time they will accrue 6 days leave, the payment of which is included in their Salary so must be taken during their 12-week placement.
Applicants require to be available week commencing 31 March 2025 for interview.
An intern is sought to record Play Area inventories in Glasgow. This project aims to provide a dataset to be hosted on a Geographical Information System (GIS) which would be available to all departments of GCC.
The dataset would increase our knowledge of our current Play Area provision, identify gaps in the estate and improve efficiencies of repairs.
It will allow Senior Management information to ensure decisions regarding future provision, maintenance and enhancement are fully informed in meeting City priorities whilst achieving Best Value.
To achieve this Neighbourhood, Regeneration and Sustainability (NRS) requires an enthusiastic and focussed individual to work at its offices in Eastgate, 727 London Rd, Glasgow and at various Play Area sites Citywide. Working with existing officers the candidate can effectively communicate across a variety of audiences and comfortable with outdoor work. They should have existing experience of GIS software or other relevant mapping software.
Surveying experience would be desirable but not essential.
