Supplier Quality Lead – Oyster Yachts, Southampton
Purpose of the Role:
The Supplier Quality Lead will control and develop the medium sized supply chain of Oyster Yachts Ltd. Covering all sites and suppliers ensuring closed loop solutions and delivery of the strategic enhancement as directed by the Group Head of Quality and Warranty.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Implement and monitor the individual supplier scores on delivery and quality performance metrics.
* Issue and Monitor Supplier Correction Action Requests through to completion.
* Conduct new Supplier audits and support the approval process.
* Conduct maintenance audits to ensure continued compliance to standards.
* Develop suppliers with the flow down of ‘The Oyster Way’.
* Be the focal point of supplier issues within the business.
* Support the Operational Alert System for supplier issues.
* Determine statistical trends and themes throughout the supply chain and implement new protocols to address.
* Develop and issue an advanced supplier/business relationship document that sets the standard and requirements for purchased products.
* Support supplier conferences with real life experiences and supporting data.
* Support and develop supplier tools to educate the supply chain and enhance performance.
* De-risk the supply chain through identification of supplier performance trends and single source supply.
* Compile reports on the performance of the supply chain for the digestion of the Senior Leadership Team.
Requirements
Knowledge
* Marine Industry preferred but not essential
* Broad understanding of manufacturing and Assembly techniques
* Familiarity with LEAN principles
* Quality and Manufacturing improvement methods
Skills
* Strong communication skills, verbal and written
* Data Analysis and Prioritisation
* Strong Problem-solving ability and familiarity with 3C and 8D methodologies
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
* Proficient with MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience
* Established and time served Supplier Quality Engineer.
* Driven and pioneered supplier development programmes.
* Has previously led problem resolution with unknown causes.
* Has worked with APQP and PPAP frameworks and previously taught/instructed on elements (PFMEA, Control Plan, Capability Studies).
* Has demonstrably developed suppliers to top performers
* Experience of diverse manufacturing techniques and materials
* Formal Audit Training
* STEM related Qualification
* CQI/IQA related advantageous
Additional Requirements
* Thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering systems including, but not limited to, hydraulics, plumbing (domestic, marine, grey, black, fresh water), air conditioning, gas installations, engine/gearbox, and final drive installations.
* Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering ‘best practice’ techniques or methodologies.
* Broad understanding of the requirements for marine engineering installations within yacht or recreational craft.
* Knowledge of construction techniques used in GRP boats.
* Good understanding of current marine engineering technologies.
* Good awareness of Health & Safety requirements, guidelines, and best practice.
