What you'll be doing:
* This role is office/Transfer station based and involves very minimal laboratory work.
* Assist in managing transfer operations for drums, containers, and hazardous waste at Marchwood facility.
* Inspect, record, and monitor all incoming materials through to dispatch according to site procedures and permits.
* Report any acceptance criteria deviations promptly to appropriate personnel.
* Coordinate with managers regarding site stock levels, inputs, and dispatches.
* Direct staff on proper material movement and storage to ensure compliance with site and HSE regulations.
* Conduct material sampling, compatibility testing, and provide written instructions for treatment processes.
* Perform daily transfer area inspections and report potential permit breaches or safety issues.
* Ensure compliance with site rules among personnel, contractors, and visitors while coordinating with the Marine collections team.
What we're looking for:
* The successful applicant will have a degree/HNC in chemistry or a relevant scientific qualification.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of environmental legislation.
* The ability to work as part of a team and upon their own initiative.
* Additional desired qualifications would be a Fork Lift Truck Licence and first aid qualifications; however, these will be provided.
* An ability to overcome problems and find solutions independently.
* Enthusiastic and willing to learn.
