Reporting to the Regional General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the contract, ensuring key stakeholder and customer requirements are met to a high standard.
* Responsible for ensuring that the nationwide transport operation is effective and efficient, including managing the relationship with Wincanton outbase locations in Scotland, Harlow & Portbury, ensuring that the ongoing operations consistently meet the customer's requirements in terms of service, budgeted financial goals, and other KPIs.
* Build and maintain a positive and interactive partnership with key members of the clients' management teams.
* Provide leadership and motivation of the management team ensuring they consistently achieve day-to-day excellence on an ongoing basis.
* Continued development and succession planning of the team through performance reviews and structured meetings/reviews.
* Effectively contribute as part of the contract managerial team to support and promote positive behavior and culture.
* Bring expertise in the area of transport, driver and vehicle compliance, legislation, and practice to the operational team.
* Excellent communication skills in order to be an active part of the overall contract employee engagement climate in a unionized environment.
* A proactive approach to meet customer requirements, ensuring opportunities are identified and exploited, and day-to-day excellence in operations is achieved.
* Be proactive in seeking out initiatives to ensure the contract can support the customer's business plan and supply chain strategy.
* Operate in an 'Open Book' environment where decisions and performance are discussed at regular formal internal and customer reviews.
* Promote the use of safe working practices in line with all relevant Health and Safety legislation.
* Adhere to and follow Company policies/procedures, including Quality, Health, and Safety to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
* Demonstrate an effective working relationship with the customer, representing a collaborative, proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Any other duties considered necessary to fulfill the role.

* Knowledge and experience of transport systems.
* Excellent leadership, influencing, and communication skills to maximize the effectiveness of your team ensuring they are well informed and motivated to achieve performance goals and the KPIs of the Contract.
* Effective/structured process management ensuring effective delegation and accountability.
* Possess the above skills and proactively engage with the senior team to support the business strategy as a key member of the high-performance team.
* Excellent interpersonal skills to establish effective communication channels with employees ensuring they are well informed about the site and the wider business of both Wincanton and the customer.
* Ability to demonstrate/provide the budgetary and financial controls and operate effectively in an 'Open Book' environment involving regular detailed and comprehensive customer reviews.
* Must have the energy, determination, and commitment to operate in an environment where regular customer contact and collaborative working is the norm; effective customer communication is essential.
* International CPC holder would be beneficial for this role, or a proactive drive to work towards gaining this qualification.
