Main Purpose of Role
Duncan and Todd Group are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to provide maternity cover within our finance department. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing and assisting in a variety of accounting responsibilities to maintain the seamless operation of month end and day-to-day finance matters. This role offers a diverse range of tasks to enhance and expand on any financial experience.
Core Responsibilities
Finance and Accounts
1. Month end tasks including:
2. Prepare and post monthly journals
3. Prepare and post contact lens direct debit receipts and accruals, reconcile income between the retail system and finance system
4. Deal with all matters relating to credit cards: issue card holders their monthly statements, monitor compliance to processes, deal with all credit card admin matters
5. Analyse and post all credit card costs
6. Investigate and resolve any differences in intercompany balances
7. Provide monthly breakdown of travel spend and credit card spend
8. Review sundry margins for all retail branches to ensure transactions are captured correctly and provide relevant commentary for any anomalies
9. Issue cheque refunds to patients and maintain tracker
10. Assist with daily bank allocations
11. Assist with matching of NHS receipts to claims submitted and providing updates to branches
12. Assist the Senior Accounts Assistant with tasks relating to Smart Employee Eyecare business including monitoring and actioning mailbox queries, allocating corporate receipts, reconcile sales ledger accounts and resolve any discrepancies and setting up new corporate customers in the finance system
13. Assist in reconciling and ensure receipts are timely for Retail Corporate debtors
14. Assist purchase ledger with invoice posting and statement reconciliations as and when required
15. Support management with adhoc tasks
Other Responsibilities
• Act as an ambassador for the Company at all times, leading by example to promote exceptional customer service, to both internal and external customers, at all times.
• Maintain good working relationships with all other staff, both within the finance team and in the wider organisation.
• On the job training will be provided.
Beneficial Experience
• Required to have month end experience.
• Beneficial to have worked in a high volume environment.
• Beneficial to have previous experience in a similar role.
• Beneficial to be competent in Excel and capable of manipulating data in Excel.
• SAP experience is desirable but not necessary as training will be provided.
