Responsible to the Estates Manager for all delegated duties related to the management of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering team, undertaking the maintenance function of the Estates department. To lead, motivate, train and develop the maintenance team, ensuring the effective use of labour and materials to provide an efficient maintenance service for the Estates assets which the Trust are responsible for. To be included on the On-Call/ Escalation Rota, to meet emergency and urgent situations out of core working hours. To be prepared to respond to emergency work outside core working hours. To manage the Estates Electrical engineering team, External contractors employed by the Trust and to deputise for the Estates Managers as necessary. To be responsible for performance management issues, sickness absence management, disciplinary and grievance issues, one to one’s and staff appraisals. To ensure satisfactory time keeping, and conduct of staff. Ensure staff records are kept relating to holiday and sickness. To carry out checking of staff time sheets. Following appropriate training, to become a trust Authorised Person (AP) To manage the routine day to day requests for Engineering and Building assistance. To provide technical advice and liaise with key stakeholders. To proactively plan, schedule, supervise and monitor the activities of estates department staff and ensure that the productivity and performance of these staff is maximised To be included on the Estates On-Call and/ or Escalation Rota Supervise work that may need to be carried out in periods that are outside of normal working hours. This will from time to time require you to work evenings, nights or weekends in addition to, or as an alternative to your standard working hours. Flexibility is therefore an essential requirement of the position. To take part in the recruitment of trade staff and to prepare Statutory, Mandatory and basic training plans for the Engineering and Building Estates team.
