What skills and experience we're looking for
Required from September 2025, an enthusiastic and ambitious Teacher of Art to teach KS3 and KS4 Art and Photography at this successful and growing academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or someone new to the profession. It is a temporary (one year) post to cover a maternity leave.
Having achieved the best results in the school’s history in summer 2023, followed by a visit from Ofsted in May 2024, where we were judged as a strong ‘Good’ in all areas, Buckler’s Mead Academy is going from strength to strength.
Art based subjects are highly regarded by staff and students, boasting large uptake at GCSE. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience or interest in Textiles and 3D Product Design as well as Art and Photography and welcome applications from individuals qualified and interested in all Art based subjects.
The successful candidate should be:
• Hard working and fully committed to the ethos of the academy.
• Confident in teaching Art and Photography at KS3 and KS4. Experience or an interest in Textiles or 3D Product Design would also be an advantage.
• Enthusiastic and willing to try new ideas, taking responsibility for new initiatives.
• Keen to support the teaching of excellence by improving student outcomes.
• Someone with sky high expectations of students, whilst fully appreciating the need to provide encouragement and support to students of all abilities.
• Capable of working with staff from all areas of the academy, external agencies and partner schools.
• Interested in continuing professional development.
