Working as Land & Estates Director for SPR this role will operationally define and implement the agreed Estates strategy within Renewables. Providing the SPR business with Real Estates leadership, professional advice, direction, and Governance.
Reporting to the UK Onshore Origination and Development Director, the L&E Director is responsible for strategising and executing the land delivery and portfolio management across the SPR Businesses, both Onshore and Offshore.
We will look for you to collaborate effectively across the organization and lead a team of talented professionals and external resources to meet short- and long-term goals & developing and executing Estate’s strategies across the Renewables lifecycle, effectively growing and protecting the company’s operational property portfolio.
The role ensures compliance with professional standards in Real Estate as well as business specific and regulatory compliance. This role manages complex land and property matters and requires key decision-making. It requires management of senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, and protects the company reputation.
The role holder will seek to mitigate and minimise any potential threats or loss as well as ensuring value is delivered. Through effective management and implementation of a clear SPR Estates strategy the role will constructively contribute to the implementation of wider business plans and engage with and develop professional relationships with relevant regulatory bodies and external stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
You will be accountable for a significant budget ensuring all lease and ancillary payments are managed with current annual rent obligations as well as responsible for the acquisition & management of a complex operational portfolio consisting of:
1. Active land acquisition projects
2. Multi-Million-pound projects with risk if land not secured.
3. Repowering projects.
4. Lifetime land asset management of operational projects
5. Strategic and innovative approach required to mitigate and accelerate land needs, to meet multi-million-pound project.
We will look to you to ensuring operational property taxes across SPR are challenged and mitigated with any liabilities being met, ensuring no risks to operational assets and to identify targeted opportunities for savings SPR portfolio, generating capital receipts by adding value and removing financial & environmental liabilities.
Plays an integral part in delivery and advising on critical strategic land projects, that are an integral part of the Business growth and ambitious targets to decarbonise and help SPR with our contribution to Net Zero.
Working collaboratively with the business, internal and external stakeholders including Directors, Solicitors & external industry peers to develop strategies, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, designed to achieve the highest performance levels for the SPR land portfolio.
The L&E Director is accountable for the strategic development of an experienced team of business leaders and Surveyors and will seek to coach, inspire, and develop the team, to deliver a high-quality Estates service to all stakeholders and help us to develop and implement the Company’s Real Estates strategy for acquisition, divestment, and Estates Management.
Provide Real Estate due diligence support and guidance for the company’s transactional matters, including acquisitions & divestments.

You will have experience in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including Directors, Solicitors & External industry peers to develop strategies, objectives, policies, and procedures designed to achieve the highest performance levels for a land & property portfolio.
You will assist Scottish Power Renewables in identifying targeted opportunities for savings, divestments and development across a large, complex portfolio generating capital receipts and removing financial & environmental liabilities.
Strong leadership credentials managing a large team of Chartered Surveyors with responsibility to develop and execute the Real Estate strategies. The Land & Estates team must ensure compliance with regulations and standards pertaining to all aspects of the built environment.
We will look for the Land & Estates Director to have an understanding and comply with legislation such as the Electricity Act 1989, Electronic Communications Code 2017, Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 and compliance with all property legislation such as Asbestos Regs, DDA & Planning.
