Job summary Band 7 Physiotherapist - Full time 37.5 hours Trauma orthopaedics Our team has the opportunity for a suitable candidate to develop into a band 7 role in Inpatient Trauma Orthopaedics. The role involves leading and managing a team of qualified and unqualified staff to assess and treat patients post fractures and operations. Clinically it also involves working in the inpatient and daycase setting (an element of elective care is required). There may also be need to work with outpatient joint replacement groups if required. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop both your leadership and clinical skills. We have great professional relationships with our orthopaedic consultants. As a Trust we provide orthopaedic care on 2 sites (Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford - main base, and Queen Mary's, Sidcup) so travel between sites likely to be required. Main duties of the job To take a lead role in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the physiotherapy service provided to patients within the Trauma Orthopaedic specialty. The job holder will take a major role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have complex and /or chronic presentation, and to determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner. They will maintain a high standard of care and clinical practice through liaison with those working on the team and to maintain close working relationships with other senior physiotherapists to facilitate integrated rehabilitation programmes, especially when patients move across professional and organisational boundaries. The job also involves providing care to elective orthopaedic patients, as the service requires (particularly day cases). The post holder will also need to be involved in the physiotherapy on call rota. To deputise for the Out-Patients Lead Physiotherapist in terms of operational issues as required. To promote the role of physiotherapy within the inter-professional team and ensure that good communication exists with medical, nursing and other professional staff.
