Band 5 - Staff Nurse.
Interventional Suite.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join our dynamic, friendly, hard working nursing team within the interventional aspect of our pain management service. The post holder will be responsible for caring for patients throughout their day case journey. This includes pre-operative assessment, admission to the department, perioperative period, recovery, and discharge planning. Applicants should ideally have experience within an acute care setting, theatre, recovery, or day case unit. An essential part of the role will be to wear led gowns/aprons whilst working in the theatre environment.
A competency-based training programme will be provided to the successful candidate and local training on all procedures carried out within the department. You will need to be flexible; self-motivated and have excellent interpersonal skills. The post holder will be a team player who is committed to the challenges of maintaining our high quality standards of care for all our patients within this ever growing specialty. Your on-going professional development will be actively encouraged and supported. Working days and shift patterns will be agreed by the line manager to meet the needs of the service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Take overall responsibility for the coordination and safe effective management of the ward/clinical area on a shift-by-shift basis as delegated by the Ward Manager/Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
2. Undertake comprehensive health care needs assessment of patients, reassessing as appropriate.
3. Lead on the delivery of care, ensuring individual programmes of care are assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated.
4. Use professional judgement when assessing patient needs/problems and investigations requiring analysis and intervention.
5. Provide clinical and professional supervision including allocating and checking the work of staff on the ward, and the clinical supervision of junior staff.
6. Administration of medicines and treatments in line with NMC & Trust Policy.
7. Be actively involved in all aspects of admission and discharge, engaging with other agencies and community teams to ensure a safe, individualised approach based on the assessment of needs.
8. Undertake clinical skills with dexterity and accuracy to improve the patient experience and journey (i.e. venepuncture, cannulation, etc).
9. Be competent in the correct use of all equipment used in the clinical setting in accordance with instructions and departmental procedures, reporting any faults as necessary.
10. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in line with Trust Policy and NMC Code of Conduct.
