Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning and GIS Deliverables:
o Produce and deliver planning and GIS (Geographic Information System) related elements for various projects.
o Delegate tasks to junior team members, monitor their progress, review their work, and ensure deadlines are met.
2. Project Development:
o Support in developing corridors, alignments, and routes for projects from the initial needs phase through to the NSIP (Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects) or S.37 submission stage.
3. Planning and Environmental Advice:
o Provide pre-and post-application planning, environmental, and engineering input or advice on significant infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland, whenever possible.
4. Understanding of Planning Legislation:
o Develop a thorough understanding of planning regimes and legislation, such as the Development Consent Order (DCO), Developments of Significance (DNS), S.32, and Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA).
5. Additional Planning Schemes:
o Work on non-transmission related planning schemes and assist with activities related to other departments within the company.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Educational Background:
o A Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject such as Geography, Planning, Environmental Sciences, or a similar field is essential.
o A Master's degree in these fields is desirable.
2. Professional Membership:
o Being a member of, or working towards membership in, a relevant professional institution is desirable but not essential.
3. Work Experience:
o A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience in the infrastructure or development sector, specifically working on transmission, distribution, or other planning schemes.
o A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience using GIS software.
o Experience working on electricity projects, including NSIPs, S.37, or TCPA projects, is desirable.
