Job Description
Macdonald & Company have been retained on the search for a Building and Maintenance Surveyor. You will be responsible for the active management of a diverse property portfolio, ensuring the maintenance and enhancement of assets. The role includes inspecting buildings, identifying defects, managing repairs, overseeing construction projects, and ensuring compliance with safety and building regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Surveying Duties
* Conduct regular property inspections to assess conditions and maintenance requirements.
* Prepare reports with recommendations for repairs and improvements.
* Manage maintenance schedules and oversee repair work to ensure high standards and cost efficiency.
* Procure and manage building contractors and consultants.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, CDM, planning, and building regulations.
* Prepare and submit planning and building regulation applications.
* Provide technical advice and support to colleagues.
Project Management
* Plan, procure, and manage construction projects.
* Appoint and oversee consultant teams and contractors.
Financial Management
* Manage and track project budgets.
* Raise purchase orders and approve invoices with due diligence.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Professional membership (CIOB, RICS, CABE) or eligibility for membership.
* Proven experience in building surveying and project management.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, CDM, and building regulations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and relevant project management software.
