The role
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Intelligence Officer to join our Financial Investigation Unit. The successful candidate will provide high-quality financial research to support the force’s strategic and operational priorities. This role involves the collation, dissemination, and development of research related to investigations conducted under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
What you’ll do
* Conduct specialist financial research to support civil and criminal investigations.
* Triage and research arrests/charges to identify asset recovery opportunities, managing low-value asset recovery cases through the court system.
* Review and triage financial intelligence, presenting information using diverse data sources to identify links and associations.
* Provide operational support to the Financial Investigation Unit and wider police force, this includes tracing individuals reported missing and wanted for investigation.
* Develop intelligence packages for investigations and liaise with external agencies.
* Conduct live-time research to support ongoing operations and contribute to briefings and meetings.
* Ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information gathered from other forces and agencies.
* Utilise the Altia Financial Investigation Toolkit (FIT) for banking material analysis.
What you’ll bring
* Accredited by the National Crime Agency (NCA) as a Financial Intelligence Officer or willing to attain this accreditation.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Proficient in using standard IT packages and databases.
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK (full UK driving license required).
* Knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and Police Conduct Regulations.
* Knowledge of CPIA and disclosure management in financial investigations.
* Experience with the Altia Financial Investigation Toolkit (FIT).
