As a care assistant you may work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse and your job will vary depending on where you're based. For example, in a care facility, day centre, hospital or another care environment you may: serve meals help people to move around make beds, tidy up, light cleaning make clients feel comfortable engage in activities such as cooking, shopping etc with the clients maintain daily records assist with personal care you may be working with individuals who have mental health issues, alcoholism, homelessness, challenging behaviours. Ideally you would have experience in the health care sector and hold either a care certificate, NVQ or something similar. You would either need to have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to complete one
