KEY OBJECTIVES
To provide a lead technical and advice role in the Housing Strategy, Grants and Building Control Team.
To manage a complex and significant personal work load, dealing with a variety of schemes across the County Borough as necessary.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITY
1. To provide technical advice, guidance and solutions on various building control matters to within the team and also to the public, other staff members and developers.
2. To take a strategic overview of projects within the Borough as necessary and liaise with partners and other interested parties to ensure overall objectives are achieved to the satisfaction of all.
3. To manage a complex and significant personal workload, dealing with a variety of schemes including across the County Borough as necessary.
4. To supervise the activities and performance of a variety of consultants acting on the team’s behalf including Structural Engineers, Fire Engineers and Access Consultants.
5. To deal with dangerous structures and buildings within normal working hours.
6. To support the Housing Grants and Building Control Manager to the achievement of the objectives and performance targets as set out in the Business Plan.
7. To assist the Housing Grants and Building Control Manager in the promotion and development of the Building Control Service to maximise income.
8. To deputise for the Housing Grants and Building Control Manager as required.
9. To support the Housing Grants and Building Control Manager in securing the Health and Safety of staff in the section.
10. To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training and development activities.
11. To undertake such other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade, as may be reasonably required or as a mutually agreed development opportunity.
