Job Description
As a Class 1 Relief / Tramper driver, you will be responsible for executing bulk collections and deliveries between various DPD sites and customers nationwide. You will operate modern fleet vehicles on an agreed shift pattern, delivering palette loads to HGV-friendly locations.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Conduct long-distance bulk collections and deliveries with utmost professionalism and efficiency.
2. Adhere strictly to the agreed shift pattern, including a minimum of four nights per week away from base.
3. Utilise the vehicle as overnight accommodation at designated secure locations, ensuring proper rest and compliance with working time regulations.
4. Operate within a specified region surrounding your base depot, optimising routes for maximum efficiency.
5. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation for all collections and deliveries.
6. Conduct comprehensive vehicle checks before and after each journey, reporting any issues promptly.
7. Strictly adhere to all road traffic laws and company policies regarding safe driving practices.
8. Effectively manage working hours and rest periods in compliance with UK driving regulations and company guidelines.
9. Maintain regular communication with the transport office, providing timely updates on delivery progress and any potential issues.
10. Represent DPD professionally at all times, upholding the company's reputation through exemplary conduct and appearance.
11. Participate in any required training or development programmes to enhance skills and maintain industry knowledge.
12. Contribute to maintaining a clean and organised working environment, both in the vehicle and at DPD facilities.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
13. Valid UK Class 1 Driving Licence: Candidates must possess and maintain a current UK Class 1 Driving Licence.
14. Extensive Class 1 Experience: A minimum of 12 months' verifiable experience operating Class 1 vehicles is mandatory.
15. Valid UK CPC Card: Applicants are required to hold a valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card, demonstrating their commitment to professional development and compliance with industry regulations.
16. Valid UK Digital Tachograph Card: Possession of a current UK Digital Tachograph Card is essential for accurate record-keeping and adherence to driving hour regulations.
