Further information: A Relief Personal Assistant is required to support a fifty-three year old gentleman in the HU7 area of Hull. He has a large package of care and there maybe some regular hours available as he needs care seven days per week.
He has a wicked sense of humour, is fun to spend time with and loves to have a laugh and a joke. He values his independence and has been very active trying to improve things for his friends and neighbours and has been involved in residents’ consultation groups.
He has mobility issues and a sight impairment and uses a wheelchair to get around.
He needs a PA to support him to attend medical appointments, which may occasionally be out of town. He needs support with a range of personal care needs and with dressing appropriately due to his sight loss; he often jokes about the times he has ended up with his clothes on inside out or wearing mismatched shoes. He also needs support with meal preparation, maintaining a habitable home and attending social activities. He does have some personal care needs.
Someone with experience of care work would be preferred, but personality and attitude are more important than experience as training can be given. A car driver with access to their own transport would be preferred, but is not essential.
The successful applicant will be employed subject to a DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Hull City Council.
Important Information:
“Owing to the nature of this position, any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory checking report from the Disclosure and Barring Service, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.”
