We are brothers aged 6 years old and we are looking for a support worker to help us access activities in the school holidays and take part in things we both enjoy.
Our parents are looking for support from two workers to help us to have time out in the community and to be individually supported with our likes, interests and our needs.
Job Role
One role for four hours per week in the school holidays would be to support me to access activities and groups in the community. I need support with my communication and how to interact.
I like to do one-to-one activities with an adult to support in a calm and quiet environment. I do not like noisy or busy environments, and this will make me want to run. I have a dislike of strong smells.
I enjoy taking part in physical activities and I like to be practical, taking things apart and fixing things. I need support and careful understanding to help me process the environment, so I gain confidence to be able to take part in activities.
I really like cars and garages, as well as technology, particularly phones. I can find it difficult to take part in activities where I need to wait my turn, and I would need support with this to help me understand what is happening. It is important to me to have a worker who understands my needs and is able to give me positive encouragement to build my confidence to take part in activities and to keep me safe.
Additional Role Responsibilities
Another role for four hours per week in the school holidays would be to support me to access activities and groups in the community. I need careful oversight and care to ensure my medical needs are monitored. I need help to have regular snacks and drinks to keep me healthy, and my Mum can show you how this is done and will provide my favourite snacks for me.
I like to be busy, so any activity which will keep me entertained and is fast-paced is preferred. I like to know what is happening and what is planned next. Physical activities are my favourite, with plenty of variety so I can have the freedom to go from one thing to another, rather than activities where I need to be sitting still.
It is important to me to have someone who understands my needs and can keep me safe in the community. I would like someone to have fun with and to enjoy a range of different activities. We both love animals and like to interact and be hands-on with activities. We would both enjoy horse riding or animal encounter sessions. We are keen to take part in swimming and football, and would like support to be able to access these types of activities.
We would need support with our personal care needs and understanding danger awareness when we are travelling in the community.
