Job Responsibilities
* Directs the day-to-day operations of the fleet, drivers, and dispatchers.
* Serves as drivers' manager/representative in Operations.
* Manages drivers' performance in identified categories and is the primary communication link to drivers.
* Works to achieve optimum driver and customer satisfaction.
* Responsible for assigned full fleet of tractors and drivers.
* Remains up to date on state and federal, DOT, workplace and safety regulations.
* Communicates the company driver safety program and holds drivers accountable.
* Solves problems and makes decisions quickly while interacting with peers and senior level management.
* Responsible for maximizing driver training, performance, and retention.
* Includes, but is not limited to, effective management for optimum performance in the following categories:
1. On-time pickup and delivery performance.
2. Hours of service compliance.
3. Accommodation of special routing needs.
1. Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
* Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organizational ability, detail-oriented, ability to remain calm under pressure, handle multiple and varied tasks, basic typing and computer skills.
* Must be able to handle pressure and interact calmly with drivers, office staff, and other management.
* Must have working knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and driver's logs.
* Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
* Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain management is a plus or equivalent transportation experience.
