We are looking for a Handyman to join our dynamic team, providing essential support across the Southern Water Estate. Role Overview
As a Handyman, you will work closely with the Southern Water Helpdesk and regional management to deliver high-quality, safe maintenance services. This includes a key focus on Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) to ensure the efficient and smooth running of all facilities. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, from planned and reactive maintenance to working with subcontractors and managing compliance records. This is a hands-on, multi-faceted role that requires a commitment to delivering excellent service and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Complete scheduled PPM tasks as per contract requirements to ensure facilities are well-maintained and operating efficiently. This will be a major part of your role, and you will be expected to carry out regular checks and inspections to prevent issues before they arise.
* Reactive Maintenance: Address and resolve any reactive maintenance tasks promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
* Customer Support: Work closely with the Helpdesk and operational teams to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.
* Subcontractor Supervision: Oversee specialist sub-contractors' work, ensuring compliance and reporting any anomalies.
* Compliance & Health & Safety: Maintain statutory records, conduct Legionella control checks, fire safety inspections, and ensure all health and safety procedures are followed.
* General Maintenance & Repairs: Handle a wide range of tasks, from furniture assembly to landscape upkeep, ensuring all areas are neat and functioning optimally.
* Stock & Supplies Management: Monitor stock levels and manage ordering procedures.
* Customer Service: Deliver exceptional service to clients, ensuring their needs are met promptly and efficiently.
What We're Looking For
* Experience: Proven experience in a facilities management role or similar environment. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-profile setting.
* Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). You should be able to work independently, manage your time efficiently, and contribute to team objectives.
* Qualifications: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, IOSH Working Safely certification. A full UK driving license is essential.
* Knowledge: A strong understanding of facilities management, health and safety regulations, and the FM industry.
