Role: Compliance Specialist (EPR)
Salary: Up to £33,000
Location: Southampton (hybrid) min 3 days in office
The Compliance Specialist (EPR) will provide clients with a comprehensive range of expertise - from practical guidance on cross-border transactions, ensuring full compliance, and assisting on EPR and tax advisory services.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide consultancy and VAT, and EPR advisory services at the highest standard, which includes:
2. Filing VAT returns in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy, and avoiding penalties.
3. Advising clients on which tax office to make payments to.
4. Proactively reminding clients of outstanding returns.
5. Ensuring that European filings, EC Sales, and Intrastat reporting are in place where required.
6. Reviewing thresholds in place in each country and notifying European offices of such data.
7. Managing clients' accounts in coordination with the Credit Control Department.
8. Notifying clients when the account is due for payment and following up on overdue accounts.
9. Informing clients of potential VAT/EPR penalties within all countries.
10. Corresponding with clients regarding tax authorities in Europe.
11. Training, supporting, and developing new team members.
12. Collaborating positively with the team.
13. Connecting with Managers and Directors to suggest improvements to procedures.
14. Travelling if required to events/training.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
1. Degree in Environmental Science or similar.
2. Experience in VAT/Accountancy/Finance department.
3. Confident with excellent communication skills for client interaction and engagement.
4. AAT/ATT or Degree in Accountancy or VAT Diploma.
5. Excellent verbal and written skills.
6. Organised with proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
7. Ability to work well in a small team as well as independently.
8. Excellent multi-tasking ability.
