TeacherActive is proud to be working with a Key Stage 3 & 4 SEMH restorative provision in Leeds, supporting with their recruitment for a SEMH Teacher. The setting is centred on pupil’s development, as well as an intrinsic desire to make progress both academically and with their own emotional, social and behavioural skills.
The school is seeking a passionate team player to take on this long term role, although there is potential for this to become a permanent placement for the right SEMH Teacher. The successful SEMH Teacher will bring a new dimension and skill set to this role, be keen to develop their own skills to adapt to the children’s individual needs and have a positive impact on the wider school.
The school is looking for a teacher who can develop good relationships with challenging students who have SEMH difficulties; often children who have experienced trauma in their earlier childhoods. Many of the students have undiagnosed SEN needs e.g. ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia etc.
The teacher will be covering Maths, Art, Science and work skills. Many of the resources are planned but it will need somebody willing to adapt work, create activities and someone who can be flexible and change direction of lesson should it not go to plan. The right candidate will be able to plan lessons. This person needs a personality, someone calm, someone who cares and is willing to listen to students, but they must have high expectations for the students by guiding, nurturing, advising the students as it is a restorative school.
The successful SEMH Teacher will have:
* Experience working with children with additional needs / disabilities
* Experience working with students with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and challenging behaviours
* Have a full UK driving licence
* Team-Teach qualifications desirable
