We are looking for a friendly and passionate Wound Care Nurse to join our busy Doncaster Team.
FCMS pride themselves on being part of the Doncaster Wound Care Alliance, we currently run clinics six days a week from the Same Day Health Centre and hold twice weekly complex lives walk in wound care clinics. This has a huge impact on patients who are unable to attend routine appointments due to their complex lifestyle. The wound care team is currently made up of 2 specialist wound care nurses, a healthcare assistant and will soon include a Nurse Associate.
The City of Doncaster now exceeds 300,000 people who can all benefit from the service we offer. Patients are referred into our service through their own GPs, the emergency department, triage, or pharmacy. We care for wounds from superficial burns to complex Tier 3 leg ulcers.

Pay: £19.10 - £23.00 depending on experience, with additional enhancements for nonmedical prescribers
Main duties of the job
1. Provide expert wound care to all patients in line with the Wound Care Alliance training.
2. Give clear and concise communication to service users.
3. Liaise with secondary care providers and primary care to ensure continuity of care and referrals as appropriate.
4. Practice safely and effectively with the patients best interest at the core, work within own limitations and seek expert help and advice when needed.
5. Demonstrate a sound understanding to clinical assessment and advice relating to the treatment and management plan in line with local formularies.
6. Ensure all mandatory training is up to date and have willingness to develop with further CPD.
7. Support the senior management team and clinical manager with service improvement.
8. Act in accordance with the NMC.
9. Provide professional and clinical advice within the multi-disciplinary team.
Job responsibilities
1. Following the completion of the Wound Care Alliance training the post holder will manage the following presentations:
* Skin tears
* Post-operative wounds
* Burns
* Self-harm
* Cavity wounds
* Lower limb assessments for compression
1. Engage with telephone triage.
2. Provide face to face assessments.
3. Provide a clear follow up plan and safety netting after each appointment.
4. Demonstrate flexible working in line with the need of the service, including home visits.
5. Escalate and discuss any clinical concerns with senior clinicians and the clinical manager.
6. Keep up to date with mandatory training.
7. Maintain competence in adult and children's safeguarding.
8. Engage and evidence CPD.
9. Mentor trainee nurse associates and healthcare assistants.
10. Attend meetings when required.
11. Assist with appraisals.
12. Promote the service and implement changes in line with Doncaster CCG.
13. Promote patient education on nutrition and scar management.
14. Work with the team to book patients into clinics as appropriate.
Knowledge, skills, and experience required:
Experience of working within wound care is desirable. The post holder will demonstrate good professional work ethic and a willingness to learn. They will demonstrate good clear communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team. Treatment plans will be in line with local formulary and with the patient at the centre. The post holder will engage in continuous CPD throughout their employment and have a willingness to share experience and teaching with the wider team. The post-holder will be expected to undertake all the duties and responsibilities associated with a wound care nurse within urgent and emergency care. The post holder will ensure all aspects of safeguarding are considered in each patient contact and act appropriately with local and organizational guidelines.

Qualifications
* Have an active NMC registration.
* Good standards of general education.
* Experience in wound care.
* Completed the wound care alliance training.
* Tissue viability qualification.
* Non-medical prescriber.
Communication
* Excellence oral and written communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle difficult situations.
* Previous experience using Adastra.
The role is subject to a DBS check which will require three forms of valid ID to be produced and verified.
