An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or Senior Psychological Therapist to work within the Acute Inpatient Psychological Services team at St George's Park hospital, Morpeth.
The Acute Inpatient Service at St George's Park consists of two male wards and one female ward of 19 beds each. The post is available on a full-time basis working across two wards, or a part-time basis working into one ward.
Within inpatient services, we hold the value of being creative and very much welcome new and improved processes and ideas. The service has a strong commitment to CPD and professional development, and we want to nurture each clinician in their career longer term.
You will be joining the Psychological Services Inpatient team who work across Acute, Rehabilitation and Older Adult inpatient wards. Our team is made up of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Art Psychotherapists and Assistant Psychologists. We also have a therapy dog in the service. We are a friendly, inclusive and diverse group of practitioners who bring a range of interests, experience and skills to the work we do.
Main Duties of the Job
The post-holder will have the opportunity to:
1. Provide specialist psychological assessments (including neuropsychological assessment) and interventions with service users experiencing a broad range of mental health problems.
2. Facilitate team supervision/reflective practice and debriefs.
3. Utilise research skills to design and conduct evaluations of the service, leading to peer-reviewed publications.
4. Design and deliver training to ward-based staff and MDT colleagues specifically relevant to their needs.
5. Provide supervision and support to MDT staff and a Higher Assistant Psychologist.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
* An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent degree level qualification in mental health, and post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and therapy (e.g., Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Post-graduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma). HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent, e.g., BABCP registered CBT practitioner. Or member of an appropriate professional body.
* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society. HCPC registered practitioner psychologist.
Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of one or more specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult-to-treat groups relevant to the community pathway, e.g., personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with additional disabilities. Substantial post-qualification experience of specialist model-specific psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment across a wide range of care settings.
* Demonstrate further specialist training and experience through a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision over 18 months or an alternative agreed by the Psychological Services Professional Lead. Experience of providing clinical supervision.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health. Trainer in clinical supervision.
Skills and Competencies
* Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management. Specialist skills and competency in at least two evidence-based psychological therapies relevant to the pathway.
* Well-developed skills in effective communication of complex, highly technical, and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues.
* Skills in providing clinical supervision and consultation to other professional and non-professional groups. Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the relevant regulating or professional body.
Role/Team Specific Requirements
* Ability to teach and train others using a variety of complex multimedia materials for presentations within public, professional, and academic settings.
* Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
