Founded in 1996, Mercanta are importers of green coffee with a focus on investing in quality and relationships. Mercanta sources a huge variety of coffees from over twenty producing countries, distributing to a network of small to medium-sized boutique coffee roasters across the globe. Today, Mercanta is part of the ECOM Group and the Mercanta business has offices across multiple jurisdictions with the overarching goal is to deliver sustainably sourced, specialty-grade coffee with a bespoke account management service to as many roasters as possible. As part of our development plans together with the development of the speciality industry in this region, Mercanta are looking for an Account Manager to be responsible for our Middle East business area. The Role The Account Manager role will be responsible for supporting the operations in the Middle East and will manage the day-to-day portfolio of current roaster accounts. The Account Manager role is based in the UK but the role will require visits to the region and to origin as required. The main responsibilities are: Management of the day-to-day portfolio of current roaster accounts and develop the roaster accounts across the Middle East Review the daily quality control of offer, pre-shipment and arrival samples (cupping) Partly manage the DMCC (warehouse) position and any inventory transfers Partly manage the demand planning and procurement Support the logistics team with deliveries The successful applicant will be trained by our experienced team, combined with an opportunity to study at our state-of-the art-training centre. Interested candidates must have a min of 3 years of sales experience within the world of commodities and have a sound and genuine interest and business knowledge of coffee and sustainable supply chains to be able to undertake this role. Educated to degree level within business or economics or have equivalent experience, there must be a passion for sales and account management, be able to work autonomously and part of a small team. They will also be willing and able to travel as required, excellent communication, decision making and negotiating skills.
