We are looking for a motivated individual with an excellent eye for detail to join the Doctoral College’s Recruitment and Admissions Team. This team is responsible for administering all PhD and professional doctorate admissions and managing the numerous funding competitions associated with doctoral study. As part of our team, you will play a vital role in providing efficient and effective support to those students who are considering undertaking postgraduate research at Bath. You will have responsibility for managing PhD studentship competitions and funding budgets for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as managing the recruitment and admissions processes at Bath for the South West Doctoral Training Partnership ( SWDTP ) and the GW4 BioMed MRC Doctoral Training Partnership ( GW4 BioMed DTP ). About the role The Doctoral College supports and enriches the experience of doctoral researchers and plays a key role in developing policy and strategy for doctoral study. It also supports recruitment to doctoral study programmes, manages student and programme administration, provides professional skills development and helps students to feel supported, from enquiry through to graduation, wherever and however they choose to study. This role involves liaison with prospective doctoral students, members of academic staff, internal professional services representatives and other university colleagues as well as external agencies. You will be the key point of contact for admissions and recruitment matters related to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition, you will be required to coordinate student funding allocations, and to work with the Doctoral Admissions Manager and Head of Doctoral Recruitment and Communications, managing wider postgraduate recruitment activities. You will also be expected to support other members of the Doctoral College team and provide assistance and guidance where necessary. About you You should be a highly organised individual with an eye for detail and experience of working in a busy environment, preferably involving admissions or student recruitment. Attention to detail is very important as is the ability to manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities. You will need to work closely with other team members, academic colleagues and students from across the world, so excellent communication skills are highly important. You will be an excellent team player but also be able to work on your own initiative with a high degree of flexibility and you should be a quick learner. You should have excellent computer skills, with a proficiency in Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn the use of database systems. Knowledge/experience of Business Objects and/or SAMIS/SITS would be beneficial. Further information This is a part-time role (0.6 FTE) for a fixed-term contract until February 2026. The team follows a hybrid model of working; we work in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays and we work from home from Wednesday to Friday inclusive. You may choose to work 3 full days per week or to spread your hours over 4 or 5 days, but you will be required to work on Tuesdays and come to the office on that day.
