Description The Service & Team: Active Cornwall is the active partnership for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and is part of a national network of 43 similar organisations funded by Sport England. We are hosted by Cornwall Council in the Neighbourhoods directorate within the Culture, Leisure and Libraries service and operate across the public, VCSE and private sector. This new role will join a small team of highly motivated people committed to the vision of a Cornwall where inequalities are no longer a barrier to an active life. You can expect to work collaboratively with colleagues within four strategic themes built around; advocating for physical activity, learning through working locally, tackling structural inequalities and being a strong and trusted organisation. The Role: You will lead Active Cornwall's work with partners in the health and care domain who share the purpose of tackling inequalities with key audiences and in target communities. The role will help the wider system to realise the potential of physical activity and movement as a tool to transform patient outcomes in the prevention, treatment and recovery of long-term health conditions. The health and care workforce are critical to this mission and you will grow capacity and capability through a network of advocates that have the confidence to support patients built on positive personal experiences, knowledge and skills. Note - This position will be subject to a standard/enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: The role is advertised as a full time (37hrs/wk) permanent position and is subject to standard Cornwall Council conditions around flexible working. We recognise that in some cases candidates may wish to retain an element of clinical practice and we are therefore open to discussions around alternative working patterns e.g. secondment, part-time etc. You will work as part of the Active Cornwall team and we currently operate a hybrid working arrangement, coming together at a central office base in Truro two days a week where external commitments allow. That said, given the nature of the role we are keen to explore ways to fully embed the work within the health and care system and are also considering opportunities for placements within other teams. What you’ll need to succeed: Active Cornwall is seeking someone with recent experience of working in the health and care system and with the skills to work as part of a small team, building trusted relationships within and across structural and organisational boundaries. You will speak the language of health and care and will understand how to navigate an evolving Integrated Care System to bring people and places together to deliver a programme of change.
