Job overview
To provide management scheduling of Ward 3B, working collaboratively with ward managers, nurses, and admin staff to achieve a smoother running ward with better patient experience. The post holder will work without direct supervision and exercise significant initiative and independent judgement in managing diverse specialties and workload.
Main duties of the job
1. Schedule and ensure the smooth running of the patient pathway.
2. Supervise admin staff on ward and clinic, record sickness and annual leave on E-Roster, and ensure PDRs are completed timely.
3. Ensure ward and clinic coverage during sickness and leave.
4. Monitor and supervise all patients' journeys to and from theatre.
5. Link with the Assistant Service Manager to escalate any issues that arise.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Assist in the management of scheduling Ward 3B for a smoother pathway for all patients.
2. Supervise all admin staff, monitor work, and handle personal issues.
3. Record staff punctuality, attendance, and authorize annual leave via E-Roster.
4. Liaise with colleagues to ensure supervisory support is available.
5. Ensure theatre lists are fully utilized and manage bed bookings appropriately.
6. Manage complaints and advise the public of the Trust’s complaints procedure.
7. Assist with the management of error reports.
8. Hold regular team meetings to cascade information.
9. Ensure full staff participation in mandatory training sessions.
10. Monitor TCI requests and facilitate meeting of Trust targets.
11. Ensure adherence to Department/Trust policies and procedures.
12. Provide leadership and act as a role model for staff.
13. Ensure confidentiality and data protection policies are adhered to.
14. Assist in implementing new procedures to improve service efficiency.
15. Participate in data collection and audits to develop services.
16. Maintain own competencies and ensure training is up to date.
Person specification
Qualifications
* GCSE in English and maths
* Vocational experience providing a working knowledge of prioritizing patients and supervising staff.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* NHS experience
* Experience of a ward setting
