Dispute Resolution Associate – Guernsey (Assignment 16156)
Our client, a leading law firm in the Channel Islands, currently has a need for an experienced Solicitor to join its highly regarded Dispute Resolution team in Guernsey.
You will work closely with clients dealing with disputes, litigation, and insolvency matters, and will be accountable for preparing and conducting all types of proceedings in courts and tribunals. Core tasks will involve:
1. Developing a thorough understanding of each assigned client’s business and business philosophy, and for communicating that knowledge to whomever within the group may work on the client’s matters.
2. Representing the Group in dealings with other law firms, government representatives, agencies, and other professionals involved with the client’s matters.
3. Taking instructions from other attorneys or clients including suggesting, recommending, and drafting instruments for a particular matter, involving lawyers in other practice groups, where necessary or relevant.
4. Advising clients, in keeping with the internal policies and procedures, with respect to all aspects of client matters assigned to the Litigation and Insolvency Practice Group.
The ideal candidate will have between the 2-5 years’ PQE with previous litigation experience, together with strong academic qualifications. This is an exciting opportunity for those who wish to make a move to the Channel Islands and be part of a friendly team in an inclusive environment.
ITPC Associate – Guernsey (Assignment 16154)
Our client, a financial Law Firm in the Channel Islands, is currently recruiting an Associate/Senior Associate to join its growing International Trusts and Private Client Team (ITPC) based in Guernsey. Within this role, you will work closely with colleagues in dispute resolution, on trust matters, and will also work alongside the Corporate Team, on private funds and corporate structures for private clients.
Main responsibilities will include:
5. Assessing and commenting on documentation from third parties with a thorough understanding of applicable legal principles, laws, and regulations.
6. Gathering clear instructions from clients, analysing legal issues, offering expert legal advice, and preparing relevant documentation or advice for Partner review, as needed.
7. Completing administrative tasks for each matter in line with required internal procedures (e.g., conflict searches, issuing terms and conditions and engagement letters, due diligence, matter opening, time recording, billing, etc.).
8. Managing personal workload effectively while supporting junior fee earners, regularly reviewing their progress, and escalating any issues to the relevant Partner.
To be considered for this opportunity, you should hold a Solicitor or Barrister qualification, preferably obtained within a common law jurisdiction, and possess a minimum of 3 years’ PQE. A strong background in non-contentious trust and financial services is preferred. A STEP qualification is desirable, though not essential, provided the candidate is willing to study towards it.
Banking & Finance – Jersey / Hybrid (Assignment 15865)
This international law firm is currently recruiting a lawyer to join its global Banking and Finance team in Jersey. This is a highly regarded team that is consistently recognised throughout the industry, with many of its members being acknowledged by Legal 500.
The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the partners and provide input regarding fee estimates and quotes. You will also be expected to keep up to date with new legislation and topics of interest in the relevant markets.
The ideal candidate for this role will have up to 4 years’ PQE, and newly qualified lawyers will also be considered. Interested applicants should have prior experience of banking and finance matters. Previous Jersey banking and finance experience would be beneficial, though not essential.
Corporate – Jersey (Assignment 15797)
We have been instructed on this new corporate role with an offshore law firm based in the Channel Islands. The firm is currently recruiting a newly qualified lawyer to join its award-winning Corporate Team in Jersey on a full-time basis.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of corporate law. The team is keen to hear from candidates who have completed seats in corporate, banking, funds, or finance during their traineeship, within a reputable law firm. While the completion of these seats would be beneficial, it is not essential. A strong academic background is crucial to the role.
This role presents the opportunity for junior-level lawyers to gain valuable experience within a highly regarded team. The firm also provides flexibility to employees through a hybrid working policy. We would be delighted to chat in more detail about living and working in the Channel Islands.
Associate, Corporate – Cayman Islands (Assignment 15564)
This successful offshore law firm is currently recruiting for a solicitor to join its reputable corporate team in the Cayman Islands. You will be part of one of the largest corporate teams in the Cayman Islands and will advise on a variety of transactional matters.
The team is looking for ambitious and personable candidates with at least 3 years’ PQE who have a strong academic background. Candidates with a seat within funds, corporate or banking and finance during a recent training contract would be viewed favourably.
