Hours: 37 per week | Mon-Thurs 08:30-16:45 | Fri 08:30-16:15

Hybrid Working: Initial full on-site, hybrid after onboarding (~3 days/week)
About the Role
TeamJobs is recruiting for an Engine Electronic Systems Engineer to join our client team in Peterborough. This exciting and diverse role sits within Electronics, a division responsible for developing advanced electrical and electronic control systems of powertrains.
You'll play a key role in supporting the entire product lifecycle - from early-stage development and validation to post-production maintenance - for electronic engine control systems. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a cross-functional, technically challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in system architecture definition, component selection, and schematic development
* Support FMEA activities and validation test plans
* Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues within the electronic systems
* Provide technical input on pinouts, schematics, and software functionality
* Coordinate with development partners and internal teams throughout product lifecycle
* Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
What You'll Need
Must-Have Skills:
* Proven knowledge of engine electronic systems and fault-finding at system level
* Experience in requirements engineering, FMEA, and feature definition
* Strong ability to interpret technical schematics and component specifications
* Knowledge of CAN communication protocols and tools such as CANape and CANalyzer
* Experience troubleshooting using oscilloscopes and diagnostic tools
* Relevant degree in Electronics Engineering (or HNC with equivalent experience)
Desirable Experience:
* Background in diesel/off-highway engines or comparable automotive, marine, or military applications
* Familiarity with systems like fuel/air delivery and engine governors
* Working knowledge of Teamcenter, DOORS, Creo, or similar tools
* Exposure to PPAP, validation planning, and systems integration

You are a proactive and methodical engineer with strong systems integration experience, looking to be involved in varied and high-impact projects. You enjoy collaborating across departments and have the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. You have worked with complex engine systems and can communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
