Job Advert: Learning Support Assistant Location: Andover Contract: Full-Time Start Date: ASAP We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our dynamic team at a specialist school that caters for primary-aged children. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to reach their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one and small group support to primary-aged children with SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom. Assist with the delivery of tailored learning activities, ensuring that each child’s individual needs are met. Support the teacher in managing classroom behavior and creating a positive, structured environment. Help students develop social and emotional skills, fostering their personal growth and wellbeing. Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents when required. Contribute to creating a supportive, engaging, and safe learning environment for all students. Essential Criteria: Previous experience working with children is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues. A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children with SEMH needs. Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to the individual needs of each child. Desirable Criteria: A degree or equivalent qualification (though not essential). Prior training or experience in a care/education setting relevant to supporting SEMH would be highly advantageous.
