The Role
As a Communications engineer, you will be responsible for successfully applying your current knowledge to the development of both legacy and current military specific communications technologies.
Day-to-day, you’ll undertake communications engineering design, development, system integration and test and acceptance activities to support Maritime communication systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting communication architecture solutions across the frequency spectrum
* Installing and integrating equipment in a range of both military and commercial platforms
* Undertaking test and evaluation of both equipment and solutions in a lab environment
* Giving your input into the design, development, setting to work and trail operations across the communications spectrum
* Engaging with relevant customers and stakeholders undertaking both design and test activities
Essential experience of the Communications Integration Engineer:
* The ability to be able to understand Systems Engineering principles and how this area integrates into others
* Previous experience engaging with stakeholders and effectively communicating complex information
* The ability to make evaluative judgements and analyse factual information
* Proven experience solving complex problems with the ability to understand requirements
* Previous experience working with communication systems or a similar Engineering discipline
Essential qualifications for the Communications Integration Engineer:
Qualified to a degree level (or equivalent) in an Engineering or Communications discipline or equivalent experience

This role is 37 hours per week on-site based at Portsdown Technology Park.
Portsmouth Technology Park (PTP) is one of QinetiQ’s key facilities, focusing on advanced technology development and engineering services. It is dedicated to research and development, ensuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, and tested effectively to meet operational requirements. The facility utilises sophisticated modelling and simulation techniques to analyse and predict performance.
