Medical Receptionists are responsible for dealing with all mattersconcerning the care of patients either face to face or by telephone. Aprofessional approach is essential for the day to day running of thepractice. The Reception and Administration team creates a positive,friendly and caring patient experience, responsible for both the traditionalreception role of welcoming and signposting patients to appropriate healthcareprofessionals and administering the busy back-office work of prescriptions,coding correspondence, and providing task-based support to the clinicians andmanagement.
This is a fast-pacedrole in a busy and demanding environment. We need our team to be flexible,resilient, well organised, and able to problem-solve and multi-task whilstmaintaining a friendly and approachable manner. A vital part of the role is toprovide excellent patient care and communication. It is essential to remain calm and empathicwith a professional manner. You must alsobe assertive in demanding situations which arise. Previous experience in the NHS is anadvantage but not essential for this post as full training will be given.
Main duties of the job

a. Bookingpatient appointments as appropriate on the practice appointment system.
b. Processingprescriptions, coding correspondence, scanning and work flowing documents.
c. Dealingwith general enquiries, making patient review appointments, taking accuratemessages and actioning with appropriate delivery.
d. Providingtask-based support to the Clinicians and Management Team.
e. Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requestappropriately.
f. Signpostpatients to the correct services.
g. Initiatingcontact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members andexternal agencies.
h. Clinicallycode data on the Practice EMIS system.
i. Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information asrequired.
j. Input accuratedata into patients healthcare records as necessary.
k. Directrequests as appropriate for information,, SAR, insurance/solicitorsletters and DVLA forms to the administrative and Secretarial team.
l. Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner.
m. Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
n. Monitorand maintain the reception area and notice boards.
o. Supportall clinical staff with general tasks as requested.

Northgate Medical Centre is lookingto recruit a part time Medical Receptionist. The post is 24 hours per week ona rota basis. Flexibility in working days is needed forthis position. These hours may increase in time depending on the needs of the Practice.

Our aim is to provide excellent patient carewhilst maintaining a good work life balance.We are a training practice for Medical Students, GP Registrars,Foundation GPs and Student Nurses. Wehave a practice list size of approximately 8300 patients.
Northgate Medical Centre is alsopart of Chester Central Primary Care Network (CCPCN) which is a collaborationof 6 GP Practices within Chester City Centre.The PCN team already includes,Social Prescribing Link Workers, Health & Wellbeing Coaches, Counsellors, aClinical Pharmacist, a Pharmacy Technician, a Dietician, Paramedics, MentalHealth Practitioner, Occupational Mental Health Therapist and a CareCoordinator.

To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception dutiesand the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to,greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system,booking appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions, the processing ofinformation and assisting patients as required. You will also attend regularstaff training meetings and contribute towards these.
To act as the central point of contact for patients, thedistribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team,liaising with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such assecondary care and community service providers.
