Purpose of Post
To manage the day to day running of the pre-school room/s to include co-ordinating the provision of a caring, safe, secure and stimulating environment, meeting Ofsted and HSE requirements.
To plan a range of activities based on an observation and assessment cycle for children aged 3 – 5 years.
Managing a staff team within the room working alongside the senior management team to ensure policies and procedures are implemented at all times.
Fulfilling duties within the room and the setting to promote the safeguarding and welfare of the children, staff and parents/carers.

To act in accordance with current legislation, policy and procedures
To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children at the nursery, ensuring that all staff and volunteers observe our policies and procedures to keep children safe from harm.
Key Person Duties:
Oversee the introduction and settling in process for children and families into the nursery, including initial home visit with parent, giving initial information on nursery policies and procedures.
Take responsibility in planning, tracking and evaluating.
Set individual targets and monitoring progress.
Carry out a full record keeping programme for each child according to nursery policy
Write transition reports when moving to Reception class
Be the first contact for key parents.
Set targets and review IOPs, in collaboration with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO).
Initiate and implement IOPs through regular liaison with your room team, according to nursery policy.
Liaise with outside agencies and other professionals involved in the child's welfare (speech therapist, health visitor, support staff etc.).
Support and include children with SEN and to attend case conferences and reviews with manager as appropriate.
Hours of Work
36 - 40 hours per week between 7.30 am to 6pm – Monday to Friday
