CONA is a unique conceptual space combining a coffee shop and a nail salon. The two businesses exist as separate entities, so customers can still come in and enjoy a beautiful cup of coffee without getting a manicure, and vice versa.
CONA has great ambitions to be a destination for great specialty coffee and will be needing a Senior Barista to help us along the way.
We have the best equipment on hand so that you can show off your skills and take pride in your work. We use La Marzocco’s KB90, Mahlkonig E80 and EK43. Our house blend is by Square Mile and we are featuring DAK as our guest, single origin espresso. Our guest coffees change every month, and we are also in the works on introducing pour overs to the menu.
We’re looking for a friendly and knowledgeable full-time Senior Barista to join us in brewing the best coffees. You will be responsible for providing great, genuine customer service, producing drinks to a consistently high standard, and training new staff who join the team.
Our ideal candidate will be expected to dial-in espresso to the required recipe, steam milk to perfect consistency and texture, and impress customers with great latte art. A keen palette is essential, especially with the ever-changing coffees and origins; comprehending the taste of under-extraction and over-extraction will be key.
In anticipation of launching pour-overs to the menu, insight and expertise in brewing by hand will be useful. We would like our ideal candidate to have the confidence to guide customers through our menu, possessing extensive knowledge to speak about the differences between our house-blend espresso, single-origin espresso, and our batch brew.
We pride ourselves on being personable, taking the extra effort to get to know our customers: remembering their names, checking in on their plans, and knowing their order before they’ve ordered it.
You will be working closely with the manager, who will lean on you for support in maintaining high standards for coffee, cleanliness, and customer service. An all-rounder who will assist in the daily operations of the café, such as tidying, cashing up, and handling pastries, is appreciated.
We will prioritize candidates who can start immediately. Our full-timers are contracted to 40 hours a week at 5 days a week, but we would like a candidate who can be flexible with these hours, in the event of sick leave or to cover for holidays.
