This senior-level role is ideal for a commercially focused lawyer with strong UK and EU competition law experience and a desire to lead on significant mandates while contributing to the strategic growth of the practice.
About the Role
As Managing Associate, you’ll play a central role in both client delivery and practice development. You will work closely with partners on high-value, cross-border matters and take the lead on a broad range of contentious and advisory issues. This role offers a pathway to further leadership and the opportunity to work on high-profile mandates in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
Key Experience
We're seeking candidates with deep expertise across a range of competition law areas, including:
* Merger control and foreign direct investment regimes (particularly UK frameworks such as the National Security and Investment Act)
* Cartel investigations and abuse of dominance cases
* Dawn raid response and proactive compliance advisory work
* Pre-litigation strategy in potential competition claims
* Familiarity with collective proceedings before the Competition Appeal Tribunal (opt-out regime is a plus)
* Experience with funded claims (acting for claimants or defendants)
* Market studies and sectoral investigations
* State aid and subsidy control matters, ideally including familiarity with EU regulations (beneficial but not essential)
Strategic Growth Area
Our client is also investing in the consumer protection space, particularly around regulatory investigations and enforcement actions. An interest or background in this evolving area will be highly valued, with scope to contribute meaningfully to its development within the wider competition practice.
What You Bring
* Extensive post-qualification experience in UK and EU competition law
* A mix of contentious and non-contentious experience
* The confidence and credibility to lead on cases and engage directly with clients
* A commercial mindset and enthusiasm for business development
* A collaborative approach and the ability to mentor more junior team members
What’s on Offer
* A senior, client-facing role within a globally recognised firm
* Opportunities for career development and internal progression
* Hybrid working and a flexible, supportive team culture
* Exposure to complex, high-value matters across multiple jurisdictions
* Competitive compensation and benefits
