As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have special educational needs, providing the support they need to access the curriculum and succeed in their studies. Your work will be integral to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, where every child is given the tools to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Key Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, helping them access learning materials and participate in classroom activities. Work alongside teachers and SEN staff to implement individualized learning plans for students, ensuring that the specific needs of each child are met. Support students with behavioural, emotional, and social development, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Assist with personal care needs where required, ensuring students are safe and comfortable throughout the school day. Track student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents, helping to monitor and adjust strategies for individual students. Promote independence and self-confidence in students, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning and personal growth. Help with general classroom management and the preparation of resources to ensure a smooth learning experience for all students. What We’re Looking For Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is desirable but not essential. A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach when working with children who have a variety of needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents. A flexible and adaptable mindset, with the ability to respond to the needs of each student and the classroom environment. A commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students. A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures is essential.
