Redbridge Music Service seeks to appoint a passionate and skilled teacher of Early Years Music to deliver teaching in primary schools, the community, and at the Music Centre from January 2025.
Employer: Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure
Location: Redbridge
Contract Type: Part-Time Permanent
Start Date: January 2025
Closing Date: 12th December 2024
Redbridge Music Service has a thriving EYFS programme which includes teaching in schools, the community, and at the music centre. This structured and progressive programme starts with babies and toddlers and caters for all children through the Foundation Stage to those in Year 1. Classes build on musicianship, skills, and knowledge year on year, and employ teaching strategies from the Kodaly method. Activities are designed to contribute to children’s overall development, giving them a strong foundation for future music learning, participation, and enjoyment.
We are seeking a vibrant, engaging, skilled teacher to lead weekly classes in a variety of settings and contribute to the further development of the EYFS music programme in the borough. The existing hours we require a teacher for are a Monday morning including Wednesday and/or Thursday.
Ideally, applicants should have experience of the Kodaly method, although training could be provided for the right candidate.
There is the potential for additional teaching with the imminent expansion of the programme along with instrumental, WCET, ensemble, or curriculum teaching, depending on skills and experience.
We are working to increase access and diversity in our work and particularly welcome expressions of interest from people from all backgrounds.
Enhanced DBS checks will be undertaken as part of the recruitment process. It will be necessary to request references before being invited to interview as part of safer recruitment. Successful applicants will be placed on a salary scale according to their experience and qualifications.
If you would like to discuss the role in more detail, please call Simon Roberts, Head of Music Service on 020 8708 2828.
