As we gear up for our next phase of growth, we're on the lookout for a DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic development team for an initial 18 month contract, with the potential to extend. The Role:
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a key role in optimizing and automating our development pipelines, infrastructure, and deployment processes. Your responsibilities will include:
* CI/CD Pipeline Development: Automate and optimize the build, test, and release processes, ensuring smooth and efficient software delivery across multiple environments.
* Automation and Scripting: Write, maintain, and enhance scripts to automate recurring tasks such as environment provisioning, deployment, and system management.
* Collaboration: Work closely with developers and other stakeholders to integrate DevOps best practices into workflows, ensuring applications are scalable, reliable, and easy to operate.
* Monitoring and Incident Response: Proactively monitor system performance across development and production environments, troubleshoot issues, and optimize infrastructure to ensure high availability and reliability.
* Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring systems and processes meet relevant compliance standards and industry regulations.
* Documentation: Create and maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and tools used within the DevOps pipeline, ensuring consistency and adherence to internal standards.
About You:
We’re looking for someone with:
* A 2:1 or 1st class degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
* 2-5 years of experience in a DevOps role, with a focus on automation and CI/CD practices.
* Experience with web frameworks, such as Django.
* Experience working with database platforms (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
* Exposure to GIS systems, especially technologies like QGIS, PostGIS, OpenLayers, and ArcGIS, would be a bonus.
* A passion for learning and a desire to tackle complex technical challenges.
* An impact-driven mindset, with a desire to make a difference in both your role and the wider business.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
