What You be Doing
As anAncillary Service Analyst, you’ll be part of the wider Trading and Optimisationteam. Day to day, you’ll be providing fundamental Ancillary Servicesanalysis, assumptions, forecasts, and a variety of analytical activities with acore focus on current and emerging Ancillary Services markets.
Workingclosely with the wider Trading & Optimisation team within liquid traded markets, you will play anactive role in supporting daily trading strategy decisions from within-day outto up to 5 years ahead, with the delivery of Flex Value annual targets inexcess of c.£200m/year
Specifically,you’ll provide robust fundamental analysis, engage in trading strategies,develop and maintain models, review past analysis, own pricing tools andtrading-decision models such as price forecasting and simulation models. Youwill also provide market and competitor intelligence to identify areas to addvalue.
The desk is small in relative terms, but this means you will havemore ownership and visibility with management, and have greater interactionacross the business. About You
You’ll needto have a degree level education in a subject along the lines of science,maths, economics, engineering or other numerate subject, as well as workingknowledge of UK power markets. Experience and understanding of power generationunits will set you up to settle in quickly, as will a curious mindset.
You’ll havesolid experience with statistical and fundamental modelling using IT techniquessuch as; SQL, Python, Excel, Business Intelligence tools (Power BI); and beable to apply a pragmatic approach to large data structures.
If you havea good understanding of the methods underlying linear and mixed integerprogramming with experience of building models and solving them with commercialoptimisers (Xpress/CPLEX), you’ll be set up for quick success in the role.
