Role Summary
An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to be involved in Mechanical Development for Innovative Aerospace Solutions. As part of the New Product Introduction Engineering team, you will work on the latest aircraft cabin systems with the world’s largest manufacturers using the latest technologies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supports the development of Mechanical components and assemblies in compliance with specified requirements.
2. Generates the required engineering documentation during design & development stages.
3. Maintains and updates design data and BOMs following relevant standards.
4. Produces and tests mechanical prototypes to determine technical feasibility.
5. Supports relevant Integration and qualification activities to ensure the assigned design element works as part of the broader system.
6. Contributes to component/material selection, coordinates mechanical component sourcing with Supply Chain.
7. Follows Design & Development Processes and Procedures.
8. Identifies and supports opportunities for the improvement of the engineering function.
9. Follows configuration management processes and identifies solutions where product or process falls short of such requirements.
10. The role develops into a Mechanical Engineer or a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Key Experience/Skills
1. Basic understanding of manufacturing technologies including part finishing, e.g., injection moulding, extrusion, machining, and additive manufacturing.
2. Experience in using 3D and 2D CAD tools.
3. Understanding aspects of mechanical testing, e.g., environmental, stress, vibration.
4. Understanding of engineering part specification, including drawing requirements, dimensional tolerancing, and process control.
5. Good working knowledge of MS Office tools.
6. Strong numerical and verbal ability.
7. An eye for detail and a methodical approach to work.
8. Flexibility in dealing with changing priorities.
9. University Degree qualified in Mechanical/Product Design/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
10. Experience gained in the aerospace sector or other regulated environments.
11. Experience using SolidWorks 3D modelling software.
12. Understanding of 3D printing technologies.
13. Initial experience of operating in a New Product development engineering environment.
14. Communication: to be able to communicate clearly and with confidence to internal team members and other functional stakeholders.
15. Relationship building: to develop strong collaborative relations with staff and third parties.
16. Team working: to be able to support other team members and take instruction in order to achieve company goals.
