The Role
This role sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants, our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments.
Our highly skilled team tackles major defence, decommissioning, new build and nuclear generation projects and has won over 78% of its latest tenders. Together, we’re innovating to make nuclear safer, faster and cost-effective across the nuclear energy life cycle. We’re also bringing the UK closer to Net Zero, through our work with Hinkley C, Sizewell C and X Energy.
As a Senior Engineer you'll manage the delivery of engineering and technical activities, through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience.
Day to day, you'll be involved with creating cutting-edge designs, leading on project delivery and providing solutions to our many clients.
Key Duties:
1. Assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers,
2. Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities
3. Produce, review and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports as assigned
4. Maintaining the engineering configuration, ensuring the overall design intent and integrity is maintained throughout design lifecycle
5. Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements
6. Provide support to the Project Manager for the planning, control and delivery of tasks and projects
Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Engineer
7. Experience in working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams to deliver activities on a range of project types
8. Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities
Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Engineer
9. Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering, or equivalent experience.in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
