As an Underwriting Analyst within the Credit Risk and Lending Product team, you will play a pivotal role in making equitable decisions for new applicants as we expand and scale our business. This dynamic position will allow you to provide direct feedback to optimize our processes. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of digital products and services on a global scale in a start-up environment, supported by one of the world's leading financial services providers, JP Morgan Chase & Co.
Job responsibilities:
1. Ensuring referred applications or appeals are underwritten optimally, while working within our Credit Risk mandates and ensure the team operate within the service level agreements - we believe everyone is responsible for delivering the right outcomes in a timely manner
2. Provide subject matter expertise and use keen investigative skills to resolve complex onboarding queries and lending complaints
3. Support new product design and process optimization by continually identifying areas where we can improve
4. Understand the consumer finance market to assist with lending decisions given
5. Understand complex cases and continually observe for additional red flags (such as potential first party fraud indicators)
6. Keep detailed and accurate records of the underwriting decisions and articulate clearly why decisions have been made
7. Adhere to the FCA Conduct Rules
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
8. Strong understanding of the underwriting processes and procedures with a focus on new business applications.
9. Experience of financial underwriting within a regulated FCA environment, with a strong customer service background (1 year minimum)
10. Experience of working on your own initiative and prioritise tasks to reflect the impact on the business
11. Genuine interest in regulation and be able to interpret changes as they occur
12. Strong knowledge of CONC and TCF principals and how to apply them to ensure adherence with FCA guidelines
13. Ability to lead by example and skilled at partnering with stakeholders
