Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Civil or Structural Engineer to join our team and contribute to structural investigations and testing. This role requires a balance of on-site fieldwork and technical reporting, making it ideal for candidates with a mix of practical experience and strong analytical skills.
The Engineer will be responsible for conducting structural inspections, collecting and analysing data, and preparing high-quality reports. The role involves close collaboration with site teams and senior engineers, ensuring investigations are conducted efficiently and in compliance with industry standards. While recent graduates are encouraged to apply, we are particularly interested in candidates with prior experience in both site investigations and reporting.
Responsibilities
Conduct structural investigations and testing on-site, including foundation and load testing.
Collect, interpret, and analyse data from non-destructive and destructive testing techniques.
Prepare detailed technical reports with clear recommendations for clients.
Ensure compliance with relevant engineering codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Assist in project planning and liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with field teams, providing technical guidance where required.
Mentor and support junior staff where appropriate.
Maintain accurate records of site activities and findings.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and reporting standards.
Person Specification
Essential:
Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).
Strong knowledge of structural investigation techniques and industry standards.
Experience with site-based investigations and technical reporting (for more experienced candidates).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and report writing abilities.
Willingness to travel for site work and work in varied environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD).
Desirable:
Relevant work placement or internship experience.
Knowledge of structural testing techniques and standards.
Prior experience in mentoring junior staff.
