What you'll do
As a Senior Merchandiser at Sainsbury's, you will lead the commercial team in translating the category strategy into actionable plans to deliver profitable growth for a diverse product department or range. You will be fully accountable for the planning and execution of sourcing, selection, and trading strategies across all channels to meet target KPIs, including sales, margin, stock, availability, digital metrics, and customer satisfaction. Your role will involve strategic planning for product proposition and launches, negotiating with suppliers to optimise cost-effective sourcing routes, and managing stock flow to meet availability targets. Additionally, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, coach and develop the merchandising team, and collaborate with buying counterparts to ensure the successful execution of the category strategy.
Who you are
* Proven track record & recent comparable experience in a merchandising role
* Digital channel experience (including digital merchandising)
* Excellent technical knowledge of merchandising systems
* Excellent knowledge and experience of replenishment systems
* Proven track record of delivering results to target as an individual and within a team
* Project management experience would be beneficial
* Ability to work under pressure in an agile and dynamic commercial environment
* Confidence to influence and engage at all levels
* Product, market knowledge & customer focus
* Strong commercial, analytical, problem solving & presentation skills
* Experience of projects outside of BAU that have driven business change
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to build cross functional networks
